Well worth another look at Warwick

You Wear It Well lost out in the shadow of the post on her fencing bow and can make amends in the eventmasters.co.uk Lady Godiva Mares' Novices' Chase at Warwick on Thursday.

The seven-year-old had enjoyed a fine run in two seasons over hurdles, taking a couple of Grade Two contests as a novice, including at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival, but she fell short a few times in that difficult second season.

Jamie Snowden wasted no further time over the smaller obstacles and pitched You Wear It Well at Listed level for her first chase start and it looked as though the decision would pay immediate dividends as the mare looked set to successfully make all at Bangor last month.

However, a race-fit and more experienced Shecouldbeanything - already a Grade Three winner in Ireland - swooped late to grab the glory, with You Wear It Well eventually beaten just over a length in second.

That was her first start in 246 days so You Wear It Well should take a step forward for the run and given she is 10 points ahead on the ratings here, it will be disappointing if she is beaten.

Don't Tell Su bumped into a well-rated rival on his first spin out but compensation awaits in the Out The Daw Handicap Hurdle.

A winner on his second bumper start, he took a little longer to open his account over hurdles, eventually coming good at Wincanton back in March.

Starting the campaign on a mark of 117, Don't Tell Su was easily held in second by Act Of Authority at Sandown last month, form which got a significant boost when fellow Paul Nicholls inmate Henri The Second, who finished fourth, hacked up over the weekend.

He has only had fairly limited racecourse action so far, with further progress surely still to come.

Wilful has found his stride this term and a third successive victory should be within his grasp in Taunton's Classic Collection Holidays Handicap Hurdle.

A bumper and maiden hurdle winner last season, the five-year-old moved up a gear to add victories at Hexham in May and Worcester in August, winning by a total of 19 lengths across the two races.

He clearly prefers cut in the ground having won on heavy, so Jonjo and AJ O'Neill have had to be patient during a dry autumn, but conditions have come right now.

Blue Prince posted a really promising performance on his first run since a gelding operation and can kick on again in the Sky Bet Build A Bet Handicap at Chelmsford.

The three-year-old has seen plenty of racing so far with this being his 25th career start, but he appeared to have appreciated a 67-day break when finishing a staying-on fourth at Lingfield last month.

He hit a bit of a flat spot that day but should be fitter for the run and has been eased 1 point by the handicapper. - Press Association
