STANDOUT BANKERS FOR R30-MILLION SOCCER 13 POOL

With a R30-million pot, Saturday’s Soccer 13 is the bet many TAB customers will aim this weekend and the good news is that there are a couple of ace bankers, notably Brentford and reigning English Premier League champs Manchester City.

MTN8 FINAL HEADLINES SECOND CASH-ADDED SOCCER 10

The Soccer 13 comprises a combo of EPL and English Championship games with a twist in the tail in a Swedish top-tier clash between Brommapojkarna and GAIS. Mark all three options in that one if you can afford it, otherwise gamble on home-ground advantage tipping the scales in Bromma’s favour.

Brentford and Manchester City host Wolves and Fulham respectively and you have to fancy both of them to come away with all three points. Brentford have two wins and a draw from three home games this season and should be able to master bottom-of-the-log Wolves, who they beat 2-0 away last season in their last clash.

Fulham are playing good soccer and should give City a run for their money, but at the end of the day it’s hard to see them getting anything from their trip north. Fulham have not beaten City in the league since 2009 and the last 18 clashes between the two have yielded 15 wins for City and three draws.

The other games in the bet are trickier, but it could be worth gambling on home wins for Leicester and West Ham in the EPL and for Derby County, Sheffield United and West Brom in the Championship.

Locally, Saturday’s MTN8 final in Durban takes centre stage and this Pirates-Stellenbosch clash has the makings of a thriller. Both sides are in hot form and this should be a fast-paced encounter with sparks galore. The most logical prediction is a draw at the end of 90 minutes, but if you have to cut down on the cost of your bets, gamble on Pirates winning the trophy for the third year running.

The match headlines a R100,000-added Soccer 10 pool that should yield a total pool of some R2 million and a reasonable payout. Bankers bets in the pool are EPL heavyweights Arsenal at home to Southampton plus Brentford and City.
