Plus there’s a guaranteed R8-million Soccer 13 pot on Sunday, so if betting on soccer is your game don’t look beyond TAB!

CITY ARE BACK ON TRACK AND LOOK A BANKER TO WIN

It’s another potentially game-changing weekend. Liverpool’s hopes of multiple trophies are in tatters after a midweek defeat in the Merseyside derby, but by contrast Manchester City and Championship log-leaders Leicester seem to have pulled themselves together.

After being bundled out of Champions League for the second time in three years by Real Madrid, City were visibly shell shocked and physically drained against Chelsea in their FA Cup semi last weekend, when inept finishing by their London rivals saved them. But the smiles were back against injury-ravaged Brighton on Thursday and they look back on track to win their remaining five league matches and the English Premier League title yet again.

They should execute Notts Forest with little difficulty on Sunday, when title-rivals Arsenal have a much more formidable obstacle to negotiate in a North London derby away to Spurs. For the record Arsenal have won 27 of 91 away games to Spurs, but that’s no guide to the likely outcome this time. The current odds look about right with Arsenal 8-10 to win and a Spurs win and the draw both at around 3-1. Both games are included in the day’s R100,000 carryover Soccer 10 and big Soccer 13.

Leicester have steadied their ship after heading for the rocks and need to win only one of their two remaining games to secure the title and promotion to the EPL. That they should do away to Preston on Monday night.

At home it’s crunch time for Sundowns tonight in their African Champions League semi-final second leg against Esperance of Tunisia. Sundowns trail 1-0 from the first leg in Tunis last week, but have the firepower to turn that around and progress to their third final in 23 years. Sadly, history is not in their favour and they have fluffed their lines too often at the business end of ACL.

Overall victory in this semi-final will also guarantee them a slot at the expanded 32-team Club World Cup in the USA in June next year. The good news is that if Egypt’s Al Ahly knock out TP Mazembe of the DRC in tonight’s other semi-final, then Sundowns will qualify for the Club World Cup regardless of what happens against Esperance.

The match is included in tonight’s R100,000 carryover Soccer 10 in which Cape Town Spurs and Leeds look the best bankers in a pool that could pay big.

Sunday’s R8-million Soccer 13 is a real brain teaser. Suggested R192 permutation: 3 x 1,2,3 x 1 x 1,2 x 1 x 1, 2 x 1,2 x 1 x 1,2 x 1 x 1 x 2,3 x 3.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS WEEKEND

Real Madrid and Pirates will not at full strength this weekend; Tau may feature for Al Ahly in ACL semi; more bad news for Brighton; Xavi to stay on.

* Real Madrid’s Ferland Mendy will miss tonight’s clash at Real Sociedad due to a muscular complaint. The Frenchman is expected to be fit for next week's Champions League semi-final first leg with Bayern Munich. Coach Carlo Ancelotti is expected to rest several important players tonight with Nacho, Fran Garcia, Luka Modric, Brahim Diaz and Joselu likely to play.

* Percy Tau came on in the second half last Friday for Al Ahly in their Champions League semi-final first leg against Congolese club TP Mazembe in a comeback appearance after an ankle injury. He could be thrust into the starting line-up for the return in Cairo tonight. Emam Ashour and Marwan Attia, however, miss out through injury. The first leg was goalless.

* Orlando Pirates have three players suspended for Sunday’s clash away at Royal AM with first-choice goalkeeper Sipho Chaine, left attacker Deon Hotto and midfielder Miguel Timm all sidelined after an accumulation of cautions. The three were among seven Pirates players booked in last weekend’s tempestuous win over AmaZulu in Soweto.

* Irish international Evan Ferguson has had his season cut short after initially looking to play through pain caused by an ankle problem. He is one of some nine players on the injury list at Brighton, where Pervis Estupinan has been ruled out for all remaining fixtures this term due to a calf muscle injury.

* In January, Xavi Hernández said he would quit as Barcelona’s coach after this season, but the club icon has had a change of heart. He will now serve out his contract, which runs until the end of next season.

R100,000 CARRYOVER SOCCER 10 MATCH BY MATCH

Friday 26 April S10 V1

SOCCER 10 V1 SUGGESTED BET:

M1: Cape Town Spurs vs Richards Bay TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
The first of three R100,000 carryover Soccer 10 pools Friday through Sunday. A battle between the two teams at the bottom of the PSL table kicks it off with Richards Bay having an eight-point advantage over their hosts.
M2: TS Galaxy vs Moroka Swallows TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
After a run of four successive victories, Galaxy have lost their last two at home. This game is moved to Atteridgeville because of a clash of events at Mbombela Stadium.
M3: Mamelodi Sundowns vs Esperance TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Sundowns came unstuck last season in the semi-final of African Champions League and to avoid a repeat must overcome a 1-0 deficit from last weekend’s first leg.
M4: VFL Bochum vs TSG Hoffenheim TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Bochum are third last in the Bundesliga, having not won in their last eight games. They need a win here and it’s in their favour that Hoffenheim have been beaten in their last three away assignments.
M5: Venezia vs Cremonese TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Third-placed Venezia are chasing automatic promotion to Serie A, while Cremonese are one place back in Serie B and four points behind them.
M6: AS Eupen vs Sporting Charleroi TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Eupen are without success in their last four games and Charleroi beat them 1-0 at home last weekend in the Belgian league playoffs.
M7: Waterford vs Derry City TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
The visitors were 3-0 home winners over newly promoted Waterford when they met in March at the kick-off of the new Premier Division season in Ireland.
M8: Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
An away win would put Real Madrid 14 points clear in LaLiga and within touching distance of the title. Sociedad are unbeaten in their last five games.
M9: Montpellier vs Nantes TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Nantes are in relegation danger in Ligue 1 but have a 20-15 winning record over Montpellier in 44 past meetings. Nine were drawn.
M10: Queens Park Rangers vs Leeds United TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
QPR are three points above the Championship relegation places, while Leeds are one point off the top and in an automatic promotion place with Ipswich a nose behind them. Must win for both!

Saturday 27 April S10 V2

SOCCER 10 V2 SUGGESTED BET:

M1: West Ham United vs Liverpool TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
This month-end pool starts with a R100,000 carryover in the pot so it’s a must-play! West Ham have had no success in their last four outings and have lost their past five clashes with Liverpool.
M2: Stellenbosch vs Polokwane City TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Second-placed Stellenbosch look to extend their unbeaten record to 24 games, while Polokwane are chasing a place in the top eight in the PSL.
M3: Fulham vs Crystal Palace TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Fulham have been beaten in their last two home league games, but are unbeaten in their last four games against London neighbours Palace, three of which were drawn.
M4: Manchester United vs Burnley TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
United are undefeated in their last six meetings with Burnley, winning five and drawing one. But Burnley did beat them at Old Trafford four years ago.
M5: Newcastle United vs Sheffield United TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Newcastle were 8-0 winners in their last meeting against relegation-doomed Sheffield at Brammall Lane. This weekend could see Sheffield formally relegated.
M6: Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Luton Town TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
There has only been one previous meeting between these two clubs over the last decade and that was a 1-1 draw at Luton’s Kenilworth Road venue earlier this season.
M7: AmaZulu vs Chippa United TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Chippa have bulleted up the DStv Premiership standings on the back of a four-match winning run. AmaZulu’s last two wins have both come on the road.
M8: Kaizer Chiefs vs SuperSport United TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Chiefs have moved this game to Polokwane, hoping to end a run of four matches without scoring. SuperSport are on an unprecedented run of nine league matches without a win, retarding their chances of finishing runners-up this season.
M9: Everton vs Brentford TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Everton’s home record against Brentford is five victories and three defeats.
M10: Aston Villa vs Chelsea TEAM A WINS DRAW TEAM B WINS
Villa are on a four-match winning streak and on their way to a Champions League berth next season. But they lost at home to Chelsea in February in the FA Cup.

Suggested R96 perm: 2,3 x 1 x 3 x 1 x 1 x 1,2 x 1,2 x 1,2,3 x 2,3 x 1.
