Wanderlust worth exploring at Nottingham

November 2024

Sir Michael Stoute can claim a final Nottingham winner with Wanderlust on Wednesday.

The Newmarket handler announced his impending retirement during the summer and this three-year-old can ensure it is a victorious Colwick Park farewell as she steps up in trip to 2800m.

Wanderlust had shown little in three initial runs but soft ground seemed to suit at Yarmouth last time when she was putting in all her best work at the end of an extended 2200m to finish third - suggesting a move up in distance could be a positive.

A first-time visor also seemed to aid her effort that day and the headgear remains for the Goodbye For 2024 From Nottingham Racecourse Handicap.

Hardy Bloke can reverse recent form with Glory And Honour in the Goodbye And Thank You Ed Player Handicap.

He has to find four lengths on their Pontefract running over 3600m last month, but moving back to 3200m looks to be more in Hardy Bloke's favour.

Since that defeat, Brian Ellison's charge has won over 2800m at this track, pulling away at the finish with a first-time visor.

Laura Bay just missed out at Leicester last time but compensation awaits in the Conference And Events At Nottingham Racecourse Handicap.

She has won two of her four handicap outings this year, progressing from a starting mark of 68 to her current perch of 80.

David Menuisier's charge went down by just a nose in September, with the third and fifth having subsequently won to underline the value of that form.

Master Technician has been knocking on the door but can finally have his moment in the spotlight in the EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes at Musselburgh.

Sent off a 33-1 shot on debut, he ran better than his price anticipated and he then came within 0.75-lengths of victory on his second start, with both outings over 1600m.

Dropped back to 1400m last time, Master Technician was just caught for a bit of pace but should be sharper for that experience here.

Tarqeez missed the break entirely on debut so can be given another chance in the Unibet Zero% Mission Novice Stakes at Kempton.

She got upset in the stalls and was in an impossible position from the off, but the outing should stand her in good stead.

Valadon should appreciate good ground on his first attempt over fences in the TVS Supply Chain Solutions Novices' Handicap Chase at Chepstow.

The four-year-old won two of his four starts over hurdles last season, placing on the other two occasions, including when second behind the 143-rated Salver on debut.

He rounded off with a third on unsuitably soft ground at Sandown in March and benefits from some useful allowances here. - Press Association
