Jack Milner: The search for Black-Type is on as trainers from all over the country have runners in Friday’s Milkwood Stakes (Listed) over 1000m at Fairview.
Not only are there the usual Western Cape visitors in Candice Bass-Robinson and Brett Crawford, but we also have Sean Tarry, Paul Peter and Corne Spies sending fillies from Gauteng.
Iris is one of the Bass-Robinson raiders from the and she could be the runner to beat. This Gimmethegreenlight filly quickened very nicely for a career best win last time and her trainer is in good form.
The three visitors from Gauteng should be interesting to watch. Peter-trained Miracle Flight has not won for some time but is very speedy when in the mood.
Spring Break is a very rare Tarry-trained visitor and although her form has only been modest this season she has to be considered.
True Charm has not won for some time, but trainer Corne Spies has pulled off his fair share of upset results in his time and she could pop up in the places.
Racing could be the best of the local contingent along with Joyful Noise and the mercurial La Bella Mia.
Gin Fizz has looked a real treat on the Polytrack this season and although back on turf, she must be considered.
Crawford has Boomps A Daisy who is held by Iris.
It could be a great visit for Bass-Robinson as Snow Report looks the runner to beat in the Fairview 1400 (Non-Black Type) while filly Karen Blixen in Race 1 looks the best bet on the card.
