Venniker returns to action at Scottsville

It will be great to see Rachel Venniker back in the irons on Sunday at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The talented KwaZulu-Natal rider, whose mounts benefit from her 1.5kg allowance, is back from an injury-enforced layoff.

Trainer Michael Roberts looks to have some decent rides for his head rider including strong finishing What A Winter gelding Chill In The Air.

Roberts has taken his time in bringing out the best in Chill In The Air who, while out of a speed stallion, is from a stamina-oriented female line. The bay has produced some big finishes for his two wins to date, the last of which was a solid performance on Gold Challenge raceday when beating Vila Vicosa by a neck.

He only went up three merit rating points for that close margin and looks well placed again. He will now be tried over 2400m in Race 5, a C Stakes, but it looks the right direction to take with him. He is a half-brother to Breeze Over who has won twice over 2400m and later won over 3200m.

Escapologist appears the main danger. Not only is she proven, trying the distance last time, and had no problems holding off her rivals. But Chill In The Air could be a decent stayer in the making and a worthy adversary.
