Umthombo Wolwazi chases a hat-trick

Umthombo Wolwazi is looking to notch up a hat-trick of wins when he lines up in Race 5, a MR 84 Handicap over 1000m, on the Vaal Classic track on Thursday.

Marco van Rensburg, who steered him to two consecutive victories, retains the ride and the combination is bang in form for trainer Clinton Binda.

Umthombo Wolwazi does his best work when playing catch-me-if-you-can and is sure to follow the same strategy.

There are, however, a number of others who also like to dictate, notably Set To Go, Arbitrator and Mover And Shaker.

Arbitrator finished 2.30 lengths behind Umthombo Wolwazi when they met at the end of December and is now 1.5kg better off.

Expect a blistering pace.
