Two bankers on Greyville Polytrack

Woodland Glade has met some decent horses in her last two starts and looks the standout bet on Wednesday’s card on the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

The Mike de Kock-trained runner lines up in Race 2, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1700m.

Having just turned three, the daughter of Flower Alley has run well in her four starts as a two-year-old where she did well against some strong opposition.

Two runs back she finished just 1.20-lengths behind Ivy League and the Barend Botes-trained filly has gone on to win two handicaps, beating older runners with ease.

Woodland Glade could have won her next start on her KwaZulu-Natal debut, but she had the misfortune of meeting a full sister to this year’s SA Classic winner and Hollywoodbets Durban July third Bless My Stars in Let’s Go Now.

The latter went on to win two in a row and ran in the Grade 1 Douglas Whyte Stakes last Saturday.

Of course, the one concern is how Woodland Glade will perform on the Polytrack but she really does come up against a moderate field and rates hard to beat.

JP van der Merwe rode her last time when beaten just a neck by Let’s Go Now and will be back in the irons once again.

Johnny The Thief could provide a Pick 6 banker for punters because he is overdue a victory. The MJ Odendaal-trained runner takes his place in Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1900m, and this should be his day.

After running unplaced on debut, he then went on to finish second in his next three starts. His last run was on the Polytrack when he perhaps went too fast from the off but Gavin Lerena is likely to get him settled over this trip.
