Twee to triumph at Kempton

With no local racing on Wednesday, all eyes will be on the UK where Willem Twee can continue on an upward trajectory to take Race 4, a Class 2 conditional stakes over 1200m.

Trained by James Fanshawe, the gelding has gained an impressive all-weather record throughout his career and has continued to add to it this year, finishing third in both the Listed Kachy Stakes at Lingfield and the Group Three Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle.

On the latter run he was beaten 1.5-lengths by William Haggas’ Montassib, a subsequent Group One winner, with other sprint stalwarts such a Kinross and Spycatcher close by.

Most recently the bay was a winner at Wolverhampton, taking a Racing League contest over 1200m by a nose from Richard Fahey's Marine Wave.

The horse has been handed a 2-point rise in ratings as a result but he is clearly in form and has the ability to continue his rise up the ranks having placed second in this race in 2022.

Also at Kempton is the Polytrack/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes (Race 2), where William Haggas' Newlyn School appeals.

The Dark Angel-gelding was fourth on debut at Windsor before finding himself in deeper waters in a competitive Ascot novice next time out.

There he was fifth of 10, with the winner the subsequent Tattersalls Stakes second Diego Ventura. Returning to a less hotly-contested field, Newlyn School can get his head in front.

At Catterick, Brazilian Belle can strike for Michael Dods in Race 2, a Nursery Handicap over 1000m.

The juvenile makes her fourth career start in the race having won a maiden over course and distance in good style earlier this season.

When upped in class for the Hilary Needler at Beverley she was well beaten, but having gained a rating she made her handicap debut in a nursery at Thirsk last time and acquitted herself well finishing third.

Now returning to a track over which she is proven, she can resume winning ways under Connor Beasley as her mark has remained static. – Press Association
