Turffontein postponed, Scottsville abandoned

Please note that there are changes to both local race meetings scheduled to be run on Sunday.

Hollywoodbets Scottsville received 30mm of overnight rain and with the penetrometer at both tracks reading 30, a decision was been taken to abandon the meeting.

Inclement weather has also played a part at Turffontein and Sunday's race meeting has been postponed until Monday 6 January.

Turffontein received 12mm of rainfall overnight, which took the total rainfall for the week to over 95mm.

Gallops have just been concluded, and it was unanimous the track was not suitable for racing, and therefore the decision to postpone was made.

Turffontein has received an additional 5mm of rainfall up to now and the current pen reading is 26. The Vaal has received 7.5mm of rainfall and the current pen reading is 20.

Gallops will be conducted at Turffontein at 7:30am on Monday to decide if the track is suitable for racing.

Plan B would be to move the meeting to the Vaal Classic track , if that option is possible (dependent on the amount of overnight rainfall )
