Trooper To Triumph Again

Trooper Bisdee has the look of a typical Sir Mark Prescott improver who could rattle up a sequence in the John & Lou's Significant Birthday Celebration Handicap at Leicester.

Following three runs in novice and maiden company over shorter trips at two, he has come into his own when asked to tackle further this year.

He got his season off to the perfect start when winning by a neck at Yarmouth off a basement mark of 56 and he looked sure to go on to win next time out.

Stepped up to a mile and three-quarters at Sandown, he just had a complete off day when keen throughout and he never got involved.

It was easy to put a line through that though, and he regained the winning thread it clear-cut fashion at Bath last week. Racing under a 6lb penalty off his old mark, he should win again providing the drop down to a mile and a half does not count against him.

Tuki Tuki has achieved enough in two starts to date to suggest she is the one to beat in the British EBF Novice Stakes.

Her debut effort was a very promising third at Newbury behind Henry Candy's subsequent French Group Three winner Araminta.

She was then off for a couple of months before running at Lingfield over six furlongs where her third place, when weakening late on, was better than it looks on paper as she got loose beforehand.

Down to five furlongs for her third run, which goes against her breeding but not her running style, she can break her maiden.

Ben Brookhouse's Gozo arguably faces his easiest test to date this season in the Racing TV Handicap at Sandown.

In three runs since leaving Ian Williams, he has been beaten a short head at Haydock by the now 91-rated Coverdale, finished a fair third in the Bibury Cup at Salisbury and outran 40-1 odds to be a fine fifth of 12 in a #100,000 race at the July meeting.

He has been dropped 1lb for finishing just over three lengths behind Killybegs Warrior there and should go well again.

Ralph Beckett sent two runners to Catterick last week resulting in two successes and this time his Feud can make the long journey worthwhile in the Sky Bet Go-Racing-In-Yorkshire Summer Festival Handicap.

Beautifully bred, by Dubawi out of a May Hill winner Agnes Stewart, he showed only a modicum of promise in three outings last year and was subsequently gelded.

Well beaten first time out this season, he improved on his next outing and finally got his head in front last time out.

With his confidence boosted from that Haydock success, he may be able to defy a 3lb rise.

Rose Bolt is not one of the stars in William Haggas' yard but she has shown enough in two starts to suggest she is the one to beat in the Hotel Indigo Bath Restricted Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Bath.

Starproof absolutely bolted up last time out and and can give William Muir and Chris Grassick a boost ahead of a big week.

They run Pyledriver in defence of his King George crown at Ascot on Saturday and while Starproof is nowhere near that level, winners breed confidence.

Having just her second run over six furlongs, she cruised home and back over the same course and distance under a 6lb penalty, she can go in again.
