Triple Time for winning KZN debut

There are times when we really do wish races were run on paper because if that was the case it would be the punters leaving the racecourse in a chauffeured-driven Cadillac while the bookies would be roaming the streets trying to find where they had parked their bicycles.

Unfortunately, it is usually the other way around but if that was the case bettors would be emptying out on Triple Time in Race 3, a Conditional Progress Plate over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday.

On paper he has everything in his favour. He is not only the highest rated runner in this field but with a merit rating of 112 is the highest rated horse running on the day. That makes him at least 7.5kg better off with his opposition.

He is trained by Justin Snaith who is starting to prepare his horses for the KwaZulu-Natal winter season, and he brings Grade 3 form into the race. Triple Time finished a short-head second behind Master Redoute in the New Turf Carriers Western Cape Stayers over 2800m on Cape Met day and a race earlier, finished second in the Chairman’s Cup over 2500m.

And that is the one concern as he now drops markedly in trip. But he is versatile and should still be good enough beat his rivals in this event, his first run at Scottsville.
