For all we know punters might have a solid banker on a tricky card on Friday the 13th.
Top jockey Richard Fourie will have to overcome a tricky draw but the five-year-old mare For All We Know has the form to be a banker in all bets at the Fairview Polytrack meeting.
The draw has become even more difficult after the meeting was moved from the Turf to the Poly earlier this week. The Turf is too wet for safe racing after a lot of rain recently.
For All We Know (Alan Greeff) does look too strong for the opposition in the seventh race, a handicap for fillies and mares over 1400m, but the draw is a factor.
If you are looking for a backup, the three-year-old filly Symbol Of Love (Emmanuel Kaknis) is the pick of the rest.
The meeting starts at 12:40 and with the change of surface the work riders had to make way for the professionals in the first race.
It is also the first leg of the Bipot where Bella Attrice (Gavin Smith) and Grace Upon Grace (Duncan McKenzie) must be included in bets.
The Place Accumulator starts with the second race at 13:15 and race three is the first leg of the Pick Six.
The Juan Nel stable has been unlucky recently but Toureiro won the last race at the previous Fairview meeting and Mohandas will also be a deserving winner of race four on Friday.
Mohandas has been very consistent but just can’t find the winners’ box. He is drawn in pole position and jockey Louie Mxothwa gets the chance to seal the deal.
Keep an eye on Hawk Circle (Kelly Mitchley) in this race, the first leg of the first Jackpot, off at 14:25. He makes his Poly debut and if he likes the surface he will be in business.
The second Jackpot gets underway with a competitive looking race five but in race six all eyes will be on Gunsmoke (Tara Laing).
He will be going for his third win in a row after two very good performances on the Turf. Chase Maujean will be in the saddle again, so look out for those black and gold colours when Gunsmoke turns it on with his customary strong late run.
For All We Know is the horse to beat in the seventh race and as usual we end a Fairview meeting with a very competitive eighth and last race.
It will be interesting to see how Vision Of Wonder does in his seasonal debut and his first run since being gelded.
The winner of the Listed East Cape Nursery had a very good two-year-old career. He is drawn widest of all with Muzi Yeni doing duty for the Smith stable.
Those that are superstitious about Friday the 13th might be lucky as it is a very competitive meeting. The fields aren’t big but there are some wide open races.
Only one horse will carry saddle cloth number 13 on the day – Meeneera (Nel). She is the biggest outsider in race seven but the superstitious faction of the punting public will probably have a nibble!
