Jack Milner: Champion jockey Warren Kennedy has an excellent card of rides at Greyville on Wednesday and it would come as something of a surprise if he does not come away with a couple of winners.
Racing is on the Polytrack.
Three of his rides are for Joburg-based trainer Paul Peter and they all appear to have winning credentials.
The best looks to be Queen Anne’s Lace in Race 2, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1400m. She boasts some strong form and jumps from an ideal gate No 2.
She has run against some decent opposition and there have been multiple winners from most of her form lines. The only unknown is how she will handle the Polytrack but despite that, she stands out as the best bet on the Greyville card.
The Peter/Kennedy combination start with Space Race in Race 1, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1200m. This filly set good fractions at a testing Turffontein over 1400m last time but was run out of it in the final 200m.
The drop in trip should be ideal for her and although drawn at No 8, she does appear to have the gate speed to deal with that obstacle.
The danger looks to be Indigo Moon who comes off two excellent runs. However, the Peter Muscutt-trained filly has drawn wide at No 11 and that could work against her.
Lotus is the third runner on the card from the Peter stable and she runs in Race, a MR 70 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1900m in Race 4. She was a convincing winner of her last start and Senescence, the runner she beat by 2.50 lengths, came out to win her next race by 5.50 lengths.
Kennedy also looks to have a big chance in Race 3 with Rock Flight for Gavin van Zyl.
