Toney key for Bees to sting Man U

Ivan Toney worked his way back into the England squad last month – and earned his first cap - by scoring a total of 17 league goals.

However, the Brentford striker faces a lengthy ban from the game.

Toney scored on the weekend at Brighton & Hove Albion and will be key tomorrow night again as the Bees go to Old Trafford looking to humiliate Manchester United in similar fashion to what they did at the start of the campaign.

The 27-year-old had previously been called up by Gareth Southgate last September, but got his first cap against Ukraine at the start of the 2024 European Championship qualifiers last month.

It came just one month after Toney accepted breaking Football Association betting rules and he could face a potential ban from the game. It could be as long as six months as betting on football is banned worldwide for all players, managers, coaches, club staff, directors and licensed agents involved in the English game.

The Brentford striker is the second-highest English goal scorer in the Premier League - only behind Tottenham’s Harry Kane - and the first player from the Bees to make an England appearance since Les Smith in 1939.
