Things look bliss for Jasmine at Southwell

With a win over hurdles to her name now, Jasmine Bliss is one to keep on the right side of at Southwell on Monday.

Harry Derham will have been bitterly disappointed with her first couple of runs this season but there were extenuating circumstances.

First time out, despite being sent off odds-on, she bumped into Nicky Henderson's Holloway Queen and then at Ffos Los she may just not have taken to the track, as it does not suit every runner.

She put that behind her when winning at Ludlow next time though and her bumper form says a mark of 118 should not be beyond her in the attheraces.com/marketmovers EBF Mares' "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle.

Surrey Lord has shown enough in three bumper runs to suggest he can put up a bold show in the first division of the Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Maiden Hurdle.

Trained by Toby Lawes, Surrey Lord has finished third, fifth and fourth in his outings to date, showing a degree of improvement on each occasion.

He just ran out of petrol on soft ground at Kempton on his latest start, entering the final 400m in second before dropping away at the line.

Better ground in Nottinghamshire should suit him.

Smokeringinthedark will be more at home at Newcastle when he runs in the Livescore Bet Best Odds Daily Novices' Hurdle.

Unusually for Nicky Richards, he eschewed a season in bumpers to go straight over hurdles with the point-to-point recruit.

He lacks plenty of experience, as he only ran once between the flags, yet on his hurdling debut he looked a smart recruit when winning at Musselburgh, beating Jet To Vegas, who has since scored at Ayr and in Grade Two company at Kelso.

Richards then stepped him straight up in class for the Scottish Stayers' Novices' Hurdle on Musselburgh's Cheltenham trials card, but that proved a tough ask for such an inexperienced runner and he finished fourth to Intense Approach, who in contrast was having his 12th outing.

Back in calmer waters, Smokeringinthedark can get back on the winning trail.

Kensington Agent is taken to give Luke Morris his landmark 500th Wolverhampton winner in the Boost Your Acca At BetMGM Fillies' Handicap.

Morris teamed up with Tony Carroll's mare to finish fourth at Dunstall Park at the start of February, beaten just 0.5-lengths in what was a handicapper's dream finish, with seven of the eight runners separated by less than two lengths.

That was Kensington Agent's first run since September, so you would expect some progress for the run and an unchanged mark of 59 does not look beyond her given she won off 9lb higher in 2023. - Press Association
