The Springboks play the second match of their Rugby World Cup campaign on Sunday and there will be a real vibe in SA.
There will be another vibe at Hollywoodbets Greyville as well when Vibe SA lines up in Race 1. Lots of support came for the Gareth van Zyl-trained runner in his third start, and it was not difficult to see why. He finished a 0.25-length second against winners in his second race and would likely have won that event had he not jumped slowly and had more go wrong.
Last time out it looked as if he got up, but the photofinish showed otherwise, however in Race 1, a Maiden Plate over 1200m, on Sunday at Hollywoodbets Greyville his followers could finally bag the money.
He looks to have met some decent individuals in those races, and perhaps his hesitancy can be put down to not knowing the Hollywoodbets Scottsville track. He doesn’t look to be meeting as strong a field this time and jumping from No 3 draw will have an even bigger advantage over his rivals.
In Race 2, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1400m, it might be worth going against an individual who finished second in her last two. Minogue suddenly kicked into gear late just when it looked like she was going to run nowhere but for now that may be her downfall.
Both her starts look impressive on paper and she is by Vercingetorix so could be waiting for the longer trip, but her last form line has not worked out well and she has drawn wide on her Greyville debut which is around the bend.
Lady Greensleeves is on the other hand, a horse who can race handily and be placed wherever you want and also has proven stamina. She is a four-year-old who ran two very decent races from wide draws over 1400m before finding only one better in her last start.
Partnered by title-chasing jockey Richard Fourie she could get away before the turn for home and Minogue may get on the scene too late.
