There is nothing haphazard about Richard

November 2024

Jack Milner

Once again Richard Fourie looks the person to follow at Fairview on Friday when they race on the Polytrack.

And he can get bettors off to a flying start in Race 1, a Maiden Plate over 1200m, where he rides Haphazard for his usual Eastern Cape boss, Alan Greeff.

Haphazard is a filly taking on the boys, based on her excellent debut a fortnight ago, her winning turn should not be far away. The daughter of Global View was slowly away and showed signs of inexperience but was seen to be making good late progress to finish runner-up, beaten 2.25 lengths by Son Of Erupt over 1300m. That was on the Polytrack and with improvement likely, she can go one better.

Of course, this being a plate race she does get a 2.5kg sex allowance so that means the balance of the field will al be giving her weight.

The only concern is that she will have to jump from No 9 draw.

The highlight of the card comes up in Race 6, the November Stakes over 1400m, and Fourie is on the class act Luna Halo

This Fire Away filly has an outstanding record under Fourie and has also won four from five over this course and distance.

The four-year-old filly has won nine of the 12 on the occasions when Fourie has ridden her.

Interestingly, she is not the best weighted runner in the race, though, as Bingwa, making his local debut for trainer Gavin Smith, has the role.
