It’s KZN Breeders Day at Greyville on Sunday with 10 races, three of them on the turf and the remainder on the Polytrack.
Trainer Tony Peter had two winners at the Vaal on Thursday and he can grab another one when he sends out Hat’s Queen in Race 6, the KZN Breeders 1900 on the Polytrack.
The three-year-old daughter of Hat Puntana carries top weight of 60kg and has to concede chunks of weight to a number of other runners, including a bunch of colts and geldings, but she still comes in as the best weighted runner by at least 5.5kg.
Her last four races have all been in features and included a fourth behind Fiery Pegasus in the Wilgerbosdrift SA Oaks and finishing 3.40 lengths behind Little Suzie in the Woolavington 2000 last time out.
She takes a huge drop in class, jumps from barrier No 1, has in-form Lerena in the irons and as long as she takes to the Polytrack, she will be very hard to beat.
Glen Kotzen has some decent runners at the meeting and he could well provide some value for punters when he sends out Disting in Race 7, the KZN Breeders 1200 on the poly.
Disting is the only runner in this event who has been racing in high-class feature contests throughout her career. She finished ahead of Mia Moo (recently captured the Grade 1 SA Fillies Sprint) in the Listed Olympic Duel Stakes before finishing not far off SA Fillies runner-up Asiye Phambili in the Grade 3 Strelitzia Stakes.
She also jumps from barrier No 1 and will have Muzi Yeni in the irons.
