The final of all finals!

The FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United headline tomorrow’s TAB Soccer 10 pool which is expected to exceed R2-million, and with the derby being played at Wembley, anything can happen as the two giants meet for the first time in the final.

Tomorrow is cup final day, not only in England but also in Algeria and Germany, while Sunday sees the hosting of the first leg of the African Champions League final and potentially explosive finales to the season in Italy and Spain.

Manchester City’s bid for the treble comes up against the only other club to have achieved it, so there will be no favours from Manchester United when the two teams meet in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Man U won the league, FA cup and Champions League in 1999 under Alex Ferguson and City are on course to try and emulate that unique achievement this campaign.

Given their rich rivalry, it is somewhat astonishing this is the first time they clash in the FA Cup final in the tournament’s 152-year history.

Man U last won the trophy in 2016 and Man City in 2019 but the Red Devils have been to 19 past finals in comparison to 11 for their neighbours.

Tomorrow, USM Alger should also complete their first success in continental club competition as they take on Young Africans of Tanzania in the second leg of the African Confederation Cup final, having won 2-1 away in Dar-es-Salaam last Sunday to already have one hand on the trophy.

RB Leipzig look to make it three successive German Cups as they take on Eintracht Frankfurt in Berlin. They have beaten Freiburg in the last two finals and are heavily fancied to defeat Frankfurt, especially with top striker Christopher Nkunku back in form.

He struck twice on the final day of the Bundesliga season to move level with Niclas Füllkrug on 16 league goals as the pair shared the 2022/23 top goal-scorer award.

Holders Wydad Casablanca, who narrowly overcame Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-finals, are in Cairo for Sunday’s first leg of the Champions League final against Al Ahly and will put on a damage limitation exercise so that they can be in an advantageous position for the return in Casablanca on June 11.

LaLiga has settled the top four finishers and two of the three relegation places, but there are four clubs chasing a slot in next season’s Europa Conference League and six teams who are still in relegation danger on Sunday.

Serie A has also determined who will go to next season’s Champions League but at the bottom, either Spezia or Verona will fill the last relegation berth. Both clubs are away in difficult matches as Spezia visit Roma and Verona go to AC Milan. In the end it could come down to goal difference, where Spezia have the advantage.
