It comes as no surprise to find a taxing card for punters on the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday but jockey Anton Marcus could provide bettors with a brace of winners.
The veteran jockey boasts a great strike rate at Greyville – actually, he probably has a great strike rate at every course – and he hasn’t taken long in supplying his followers with winners since returning from an injury-enforced break.
Both rides are for in-form trainer Gareth Van Zyl.
One Bite At A Time has run four times but her best run came on the Polytrack where she was gaining fast to go down just 0.10 lengths to Finding Freedom, who had finished fourth in a Listed feature.
This represents the best form in Race 1, a Maiden Plate for fillies and mares over 1200m. The addition of blinkers in her next start did not have the required effect as she did too much in the early stages which probably explains her below-par run on the turf at Scottsville.
The blinkers are off, she is back on the Poly with Marcus up, and looks well placed to get out of maiden ranks.
Ladies Day, who put up a fair effort on debut, looks the main threat and she does have the advantage of No 2 draw. But she does try the extra 200m and One Bite At A Time has the strongest form line.
Quiz Master, with Marcus up, looks a ready-made banker in Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1400m. After showing little when racing from off the speed he was taken to the front last time over 1600m, and ran a cracker.
He only found one better in Airways Law and had subsequent easy winner Arumugam just behind him, so the form looks solid.
The return to 1400m looks ideal and the son of Silvano might not be for the catching this time.
