BETWAY JOBURG SPRING CHALLENGE

The Betway Joburg Spring Challenge at Turffonttein Racecourse on Saturday 7 October 2023 will be a fantastic, family fun day at the races ushering in a colourful new season at one of South Africa’s premier horse racing venues. A free, family-friendly, sun-kissed vibrant experience not to be missed, the Betway Joburg Spring Challenge isn't just another day at the races – it’s pure entertainment and a chance to see the country’s finest thoroughbreds in action at the picturesque Turffontein. Betway and 4Racing have literally upped the stakes and the ante in lighting up the Highveld horseracing season, increasing stakes for the Gr2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge from R400 000 to an impressive R550 000, while stakes for the Gr2 Betway Joburg Spring Fillies and Mares Challenge has increased from R300 000 to an enticing R450 000. This year’s thrilling 13-part Betway Spring Series has been a build up to the highly- anticipated 2023 Betway Summer Cup, which takes place on 25 November at Turffontein Racecourse with a record bumper stake of R5 million – providing a huge boost in the revival of South African horse racing. For the punters and horseracing lovers, Betway Spring Challenge Day is traditionally a first look at some of the likely contenders who will line up for the prestigious Betway Summer Cup. For the punters on the Highveld there is the prospect of seeing the likes of breakout star filly, Equus Champion two-year-old female, Mrs Geriatrix, and Equus Champion two- year-old colt, Sandringham Summit, back on the track on Betway Spring Challenge Day.
