TAB WEEKEND SOCCER HIGHLIGHTS: 30 JANUARY - 1 FEBRUARY 2026

January 2026

MULTIPLE CHANCES TO SCORE BIG THIS WEEKEND

TAB is rolling out multiple chances for football customers to score big on this last weekend of January with cash add-ins and carryovers totalling over R700,000 Friday through Sunday, plus the opportunity to join the ranks of the multi-millionaires by playing Saturday’s Soccer 13 bet, which guarantees a R35-million pool for all-13-correct entries.

BANKER BETS FOR R35-MILLION SOCCER 13 POOL

The mega Soccer 13, which costs just R2 a line to play, is the bet many customers will target and it’s an entertaining combination of English Premier League and Championship matches.

The stand-out bankers in the five EPL games are log-leaders Arsenal away to 16th-placed Leeds and fifth-placed Chelsea at home to London neighbours and relegation-threatened West Ham.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea are 1-2 favourites to win and on paper it’s hard to see either of them not coming away with thee points.

Arsenal have sailed through the group stages of Champions League and beat Kazakhstan’s Kairat 3-2 at home on Wednesday to make it eight wins out of eight in this season’s competition.

But it’s not such a success story in the EPL, where they have just two points from a possible nine in their last three matches and went down 3-2 to a revitalised Manchester United at their Emirates Stadium last weekend, a defeat that saw their lead in the table cut to just four points.

Arsenal thumped Leeds 5-0 at the Emirates back in August but will find beating them and their vociferous supporters at Elland Road a tougher assignment.

LEEDS HAVE LOST ONLY ONE OF LAST 10 IN EPL

Leeds totally lack Arsenal’s depth of quality, but they are fighters and have lost just one of their last 10 EPL games with six of those ending in draws.

What’s worrying many pundits about Arsenal in recent seasons is an apparent tendency to choke when it really matters. Their focus seems to switch from simply scoring more goals than their opponents to avoiding defeat with the result that they become overly cautious and stifle the talents of their attacking midfielders and forwards.

Chelsea blow hot and cold, but it’s hard to see them not unravelling West Ham’s defence often enough to win on Saturday, even though their rivals have looked more committed in winning their last two matches.

Brighton and Liverpool are odds-on favourites to win at home in two of the other three EPL games, but neither has been outstanding in front of their fans this term with the Reds winning six of 11 at home and Brighton five of 11.

Draws look the most likely outcomes in all three of the games, but gamble on victories for Liverpool and Brighton if you need to cut the cost of your bet.

SEVERAL POTENTIAL BANKER BETS IN CHAMPIONSHIP

Middlesbrough and Ipswich both look solid bankers to win at home in the Championship against Norwich and Preston respectively and it may also pay to banker home wins for Millwall (always tough to beat at the Den) and Watford, while you would expect log-leaders Coventry to go all out to win their away clash with QPR.

Coventry, managed by former Chelsea great Frank Lampard, were cruising at one point but their lead has been whittled down to just three points over Middlesbrough and they will want to get back on the winning trail as soon as possible after losing to Norwich on Monday night.

Three of the EPL games in Saturday’s Soccer 13 are also included in the day’s R150,000-added Soccer 10, which also contains four Betway Premiership clashes.

PIRATES SET FOR THREE POINTS AGAINST MAGESI

One-time log-leaders Pirates lost some momentum when drawing away to Sekhukhune last weekend and now find themselves in third place, three points behind Sundowns and a point adrift of arch-rivals Chiefs. But they have two games in hand and can move back into second by beating bottom-of-log Magesi on Saturday - and even first if they win by a wide margin, which is unlikely.

Sundowns and Chiefs have African club competition games this weekend. Sundowns are away to Al-Hilal Omdurman in Champions League tonight when they will probably be content to settle for a draw. The game is M2 in tonight’s R150,000-added Soccer 10.

Chiefs are at home to Zesco on Sunday after winning the reverse fixture 1-0 last weekend. They must win again at home on Sunday to enhance their prospects of qualifying for the knockout stages of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
