TAB WEEKEND SOCCER HIGHLIGHTS: 29 - 31 August
FIVE TAB SOCCER BETS GET A R750,000 BOOST
Read moreThis end-of-August weekend is loaded with riveting matches and for TAB soccer customers it’s especially alluring - five TAB soccer bets will offer bonus add-ins or carryovers totalling R750,000, plus there’s a guaranteed R18-million Jackpot for Saturday’s Soccer 13 if there’s only one outright winner.
Manchester United’s loss midweek in the Carabao Cup to English League Two nobodies Grimsby Town stunned the soccer world and tomorrow they take on newly-promoted Burnley in an English Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
In normal circumstances this is a game you would expect United to win nine times of out 10, but now it’s a matter of whether Ruben Amorim and his men can pick themselves up off the canvas after Wednesday’s embarrassing defeat.
Another loss, especially against a team many expect to be relegated this season, will plunge them deeper into a bottomless black hole and see Amorim head for the exit door. More likely is they will put themselves together and beat Burnley in a game that is M4in tomorrow’s R200,000-added Soccer 10.
It’s a challenging Soccer 10, but Spurs at home and Everton away also look up to winning their respective matches.
The big-gun weekend action kicks off tonight with a R200,000-added Soccer 10 bet that has the potential to deliver a huge payout. Banker bets are scarce but opting for away wins by Richards Bay, St Pauli, AC Milan and Moreirense could pay off.
The big clash of the weekend is Sunday’s EPL showdown between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield. In terms of football action, it doesn’t get much bigger than this - last season’s champions (Liverpool) and runners-up (Arsenal) have both won their first two games of the season, and both have a chance to make a real statement by taking all three points.
Both teams have invested heavily in the transfer market to bolster their squads for the new season, with more business possible before the transfer window shuts on Monday.
Liverpool’s French striker Hugo Ekitike has made the greatest impression so far, with two goals and an assist in two matches. And his link-up play with Mohammed Salah, Cody Gakpo and another new signing Florian Wirtz has been electric with the Reds netting seven times in two games.
At the back though, Liverpool have looked vulnerable. Arne Slot’s side let two-goal leads slip against both Bournemouth and ten-man Newcastle, only to find late winners in both games.
It is a weakness a reinforced Arsenal will look to exploit and the Gunners have spent big in their bid to win their first EPL title in over 20 years. Striker Victor Gyokeres has come in from Sporting Lisbon, while Martin Zubimendi adds strength in central midfield with ex-Chelsea Noni Madueke adding pace on the wing.
Arsenal also beat Tottenham to the signing of mercurial midfielder Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace and he could make his debut against Liverpool.
Last season’s clash at Anfield ended in a gripping 2-2 draw and this game should be equally tight with Arsenal fancied to edge out Liverpool.
The match is included in Sunday’s first Soccer 10, in which Nottingham Forest are a banker bet to win at home against West Ham. So are Pirates to win away against Chippa.
