October 2025

R100-MILLION SOCCER 13 - YOU HAVE TO TAKE A BET

This Saturday’s Soccer 13, TAB’s most popular football bet, is expected to be one of the biggest in soccer betting history with a likely pool of over R100 million.

Swedish betting company Svenska Spel, which hosts the bet, has guaranteed a minimum pool of R62 million and that is set to ignite a betting spree likely to drive the total pool way over the guaranteed amount.

CHELSEA VICTORY LOOKS THE STANDOUT BANKER

For TAB customers it’s an incredible opportunity to win an astonishing amount of money. The 13 games comprise English Premier League, Championship and League One clashes and most are fiercely competitive. Those sharp or lucky enough to choose the right outcome in all the games are virtually assured of a mega payout.

And don’t forget that in a pool of this magnitude even the consolation payouts are likely to deliver substantial dividends. So at only R2 a combination or line, it’s an absolute must-play bet that could change your life overnight.

The standout banker in the pool is Chelsea to win at home to Sunderland at Stamford Bridge. Sunderland were promoted from the Championship after finishing fourth on the log last season and winning the playoffs. And they are doing infinitely better in the top flight than anybody expected and are level on 15 points with Chelsea on the log.

But player for player Chelsea pack much more quality and are tough nuts to crack at home, having lost there only twice in 2025.

Manchester United to win at home to Brighton and Liverpool to beat Brentford in London will appeal as bankers to many. Inconsistency is the worry with United, who are seeking to make it three EPL wins in a row for the first time since February 2024.

Liverpool, beaten by United last Sunday, were much slicker when destroying Eintracht Frankfurt in Champions League midweek. But don’t overestimate the significance of that win because Frankfurt have conceded more goals than any other side in the German Bundesliga.

More appealing bankers are home victories by Newcastle, Hull, Middlesbrough and Stevenage.

MATCH-BY-MATCH GUIDE TO SATURDAY’S SOCCER 13

M1 Brentford vs Liverpool: Brentford tricky, especially at home, but reigning EPL champs Liverpool were slicker when trouncing Eintracht Frankfurt midweek. Liverpool beat Brentford 2-0 away in January and are third in the league table with 15 points, five more than 13th-placed Brentford. Odds: Brentford win 18-5; Draw 10-3; Liverpool win 8-11.

M2 Manchester United vs Brighton: United finally notched two wins in a row when beating Liverpool 2-1 last Sunday, while Brighton are unbeaten in their last five with three wins. United are ninth and one point ahead of Brighton on the log. Question is whether United will play as well as they did against Liverpool. United 11-10; Draw 14-5; Brighton 12-5.

M3 Chelsea vs Sunderland: Chelsea have won four in a row and Sunderland have three wins and two draws from last six. Level on points in the EPL table, but Chelsea should pack too much class for their newly promoted rivals. Chelsea 4-9; Draw 4-1; Sunderland 7-1.

M4 Newcastle United vs Fulham: Newcastle have won three of last four, while Fulham are on a three-game losing streak. Separated by a point in the league with Newcastle 14th and Fulham 15th, but Fulham have lost all four away games this season. Newcastle 63-100; Draw 3-1; Fulham 5-1.

M5 Blackburn Rovers vs Southampton: Blackburn no wins and Southampton one in last five. Southampton 18th in Championship table with five more points than Blackburn, who have played one match less and lost all five home games this season. Blackburn 2-1; Draw 49-20; Southampton 6-4.

M6 Bristol City vs Birmingham City: Bristol have won their last two and Birmingham ended a four-match winless run midweek. Bristol fourth, four points ahead of Birmingham in the table, but they have leaked goals at home and their rivals may be clicking again. Bristol 7-5; Draw 47-20; Birmingham 21-10.

M7 Derby County vs Queens Park Rangers: Both won midweek, but QPR won the last meeting between them 4-0 at home in February and are seven points ahead of Derby, winner of just one of six home games this season. Derby 31-20; Draw 13-5; QPR 2-1.

M8 Hull City vs Charlton Athletic: Hull have won three in a row in the Championship, while Charlton have won three of their last five games. Both on 15 points, but Hull tough to beat at home this season, winning four of six and drawing another. Hull 16-10; Draw 5-2; Charlton 43-20.

M9 Middlesbrough vs Wrexham: Middlesbrough riding high in second place in Championship with one loss and six wins in last 10, and best home record with four wins and a draw from five. Newly promoted Wrexham have 11 points less in 15th place but are holding their own. Middlesbrough 84-100; Draw 29-10; Wrexham 69-20.

M10 Millwall vs Leicester City: Millwall on a three-game winning run and third in table, three points ahead of ninth-placed Leicester. Millwall won last clash with Leicester 1-0 in April at home, but have blown hot and cold on home turf this season, winning half of six games, losing the others and conceding nine goals. Millwall 37-20; Draw 23-10; Leicester 17-10.

M11 Sheffield Wednesday vs Oxford United: Sheffield have lost last three and are bottom of the log, but only three points behind Oxford who have only one win in their last five. Sheffield 7-4; Draw 12-5; Oxford 17-10.

M12 Swansea City vs Norwich City: Norwich in the relegation zone after four straight losses and five points behind Swansea with just one victory in last five. Swansea moderate at home this season and Norwich better away. Likely draw. Swansea 6-5; Draw 5-2; Norwich 5-2.

M13 Stevenage vs Bradford City: Blockbuster clash in League One in which both riding high on 25 points in second and third respectively. Stevenage have conceded only one goal at home this season, whereas Bradford have conceded eight playing away. Stevenage 7-5; Draw 23-10; Bradford 11-5.
