TAB WEEKEND SOCCER HIGHLIGHTS: 19 - 21 September

September 2025

EXCITING GAMES GALORE AND CASH-BOOSTED POOLS

TAB football customers have another entertaining weekend ahead with several carryover and cash-added pools, and a range of exciting matches that could see one or two more English Premier League managers getting the boot come Monday morning.

GUARANTEED R7.4-MILLION SOCCER 13 TOPS THE MENU

The pick of the cash-boosted pools is Sunday’s Soccer 13, which offers a guaranteed pool of R7.4 million for all-13-correct winners. It is a challenging pool comprising matches from seven different leagues, including three EPL games with no stand-out outcomes.

The best bankers look to be Bayer Leverkusen, better since Erik ten Hag was sacked after just three games in charge, as well as Elche, Atletico Madrid and Sirius.Hag Elche are at home to Oviedo in a LaLiga clash and should come away with three points, while Atletico turned in a solid performance in defeat in an away clash with Liverpool in Champions League midweek and appear to be finding top gear.

Friday night’s Soccer 10, which starts with R125,000 in the pool from TAB, also looks set to pay big. The bet is wall-to-wall competitive clashes and best advice is to opt for home-team wins in most games.

CASH-ADDED SOCCER 10 LOOKS A GREAT BET TO PLAY

Saturday’s R125,000-added Soccer 10 is the most attractive pool of the weekend and comprises eight Betway Premiership and EPL games, plus one match from each of the German Bundesliga and Italy’s Serie A.

Locally Sekhukhune have moved to the top of the PSL log and should consolidate their position in a home game against Golden Arrows, while Stellenbosch should pick up the winning thread at home to Richards Bay.

The EPL matches include West Ham at home to London neighbours Crystal Palace and another defeat for the hosts will probably spell the end of manager Graham Potter’s tenure at the Hammers.

They have one win and four defeats from five games this season and one has to suspect that another loss will be unacceptable to West Ham’s difficult-to-please owners and fans. Crystal Palace meanwhile are riding the crest of an eight-match unbeaten wave and look set to inflict more trauma on their rivals.

ANOTHER LOSS COULD SEE AMORIM EXIT UNITED

The other manager on the verge of a red card is Ruben Amorim, whose Manchester United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday evening in the final game in the Soccer 10.

United have lost to Arsenal, drawn with Fulham, just beaten Burnley and been hammered by Manchester City in their first four league games. Plus they crashed out of the League Cup at the feet of League Two club Grimsby Town.

It’s a dismal start for a team that spent big again in the recent transfer window and a loss to Chelsea could see Amorim on his way out the back door as early as Monday, although it is more likely that he will be given the three games before the next international break early next month to steady the ship.

Amorim and United would love to beat Chelsea, but that looks unlikely. Chelsea have had a mixed start to the campaign with two wins and two draws in the EPL before going down 3-1 to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena midweek in their Champions League opener.

There was little disgrace in losing to Bayern in Munich, but the concern is that there may be some tired legs in the Chelsea squad. They won the Club World Cup instead of having a winter break and it remains to be seen how this affects them as the season progresses.

The fatigue factor and that Chelsea have not won an EPL match at Old Trafford since 2013 are two elements to give United fans some hope. But all things considered Chelsea should put United to the sword, especially now that star attacker Cole Palmer is back in the side after a groin injury.

All the EPL and PSL games this weekend are included in Saturday’s R100,000 carryover Soccer Any 13 Xtra, which should generate a total pool of some R500,000 and is well worth playing. And also tomorrow, there’s a guaranteed R18-million Soccer 13 jackpot if there is only one all-13-correct entry.
