to another PSL title

TAB GIVES MASSIVE CASH BOOST TO POOLS THIS WEEKEND

There are few dissenters now on the issue of Mamelodi Sundowns going onto take a sixth successive PSL - and doing so in style.

They already have a 14-point lead over their nearest challengers and are on course to break the record winning margin of 16 points they set last season.

Tomorrow they travel to Kaizer Chiefs chasing a record 12th successive DStv Premiership victory. The Brazilians matched their own best mark of 11 with the 1-0 win over SuperSport United on Monday.

By contrast, Chiefs have lost their last two games without scoring a goal, a 1-0 home reversal at the hands of Sekhukhune United and a 4-0 loss to AmaZulu that must have been humiliating for coach Arthur Zwane, even if he tried to put on a brave face.

Unfortunately for AmaKhosi fans, they have been here before in the recent past and the side lost four leagues games in a row in April 2022. Despite only winning seven of their 16 league games this season, Chiefs remain in fourth place on the table, which is indicative of how poor the chasing pack are.

TAB is adding over R1.1 million to a range of pools today through Sunday and the Chiefs-Sundowns clash is the last game in a R250,000-added Soccer 10.

On Sunday SuperSport United have a chance to regain second spot from Richards Bay when the two clubs meet in Atteridgeville. The rookies are two points above Gavin Hunt’s side and have been better on their travels than at home this campaign.

Richards Bay have managed 12 points in eight games at home and 17 in the same number away, losing only once, which was at Chiefs in August. SuperSport have been much improved since Gavin Hunt’s return this season, but are coming off back-to-back losses - a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Golden Arrows and a 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.

SuperSport have the only unbeaten home record left in the PSL this season with four wins and three draws in their seven matches.

Fifth-placed Orlando Pirates have battled to back one good performance with another this season and that will be the aim tomorrow at home to Stellenbosch FC.

Pirates finally broke their duck in the second half of leagues games this season with two late goals in the 3-1 win over Golden Arrows last time out for a much-needed win after three straight league losses. They now welcome a Stellenbosch side that is in a real rut with no wins in eight games.
