TAB ADDS R850,000 TO SEVEN SOCCER POOLS THIS WEEKEND

By Mark Gleeson

TAB soccer pools across the board are delivering bomb payouts and more are on the cards this weekend, when TAB will add R850,000 cash to seven pools.

Look at three of the pools last Sunday - eight Soccer 10 customers each collected over R80,000, 16 TAB Soccer 6 players banked R16,000 apiece and a Soccer 4 customer scooped a pool of nearly R30,000!

That’s good bucks and you can expect more of the same this weekend because top leagues are so competitive nowadays that just one error can turn the form book upside down.

Manchester City might not yet be sitting at the top of the English Premier League table, but it does look as if they are going to romp away with this season’s title.

Pep Guardiola’s side are two points behind Arsenal after five rounds and look likely to sweep past the Gunners sooner rather than later because right now they look different class, especially as regular rivals Liverpool have had a patchy start.

City look a banker to win at home tomorrow against a struggling Aston Villa in a game that forms part of the last Soccer 10 of the day. But Arsenal could have difficulties away at Old Trafford on Sunday against Manchester United.

A flawless five wins from five gives Arsenal top place in the table currently and they are the only team yet to drop points. It’s a massive contrast to last season’s flaky start and they have impressed with their determination in adversity.

Their victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday saw them score the winner just three minutes after their visitors had equalised - and that’s the third time this season that they have immediately reacted to conceding a goal. They twice restored a two-goal advantage against Leicester City and then came from behind against Fulham last weekend.

Spurs are the other unbeaten team in the EPL this season and should win tomorrow at home to Fulham. But they have been patchy and were underwhelming in drawing at West Ham United on Wednesday.

Liverpool are away at Everton in the Merseyside derby, which is tomorrow’s early game. The Reds have dominated this fixture for the last decade and as things stand it is hard to believe that is going to change. But it’s a derby and strange things can happen.

Back home Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu meet in what is the first of three clashes over the next seven weeks. They were drawn together in the MTN8 semi-final and will play each other over two legs next month in addition to tomorrow’s league match at Soccer City.

Chiefs have dominated AmaZulu over the years but the tide is turning with two away wins and a draw in Usuthu’s last three visits to Soccer City. The jury is still out on whether Chiefs are capable of making any impact this season and AmaZulu, who are among the early season front-runners, should be a good test.

Champions Mamelodi Sundowns get the weekend’s big action underway tonight at Atteridgeville in the Tshwane derby against SuperSport United. It comes just five days after Sundowns beat SuperSport 2-0 in a MTN8 quarter-final and many TAB customers will make the PSL champs a banker to win in tonight’s R200,000-added Soccer 10 pool.
