The filly Splicethemainbrace should give the males something to think about in the R175 000 Listed East Cape Nursery.
She will be going for her fourth consecutive win when she lines up with seven other two-year-olds to do battle over 1200m at the Fairview Turf track on Friday.
The Master Of My Fate filly still showed signs of greenness when she won the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery a month ago, but she also showed plenty of guts.
She does take on the colts for the first time but the Alan Greeff stable describes her as “above average” and acknowledges she has a winning chance with star jockey Richard Fourie in the irons.
Family Law (Gavin Smith) looks the danger. The son of Potala Palace won on debut in February, despite problems at the start.
The stable has fixed those problems and a huge run can be expected. Muzi Yeni takes the ride.
It looks like a decent field and it is always possible in these races that some individual can make sudden improvement to upset the apple cart.
This should be a good race to watch, race seven of the eight races, at 16:05.
The Smith stable is just three winners away from a 100 for the season and should get closer to the milestone in the first race.
The filly Project Runway is the horse to beat when the meeting gets underway at 12:35. Project Runway is a banker in the first leg of the Bipot.
A field of 18 fillies and mares will line up for the second race at 13:10. It is the first leg of the Place Accumulator.
The Pick Six starts with race three at 13:45. The winner of the Listed Lady’s Pendant in February, Three Rocks (Greeff), can be considered as a banker.
She will run in race six, a Pinnacle Stakes for fillies and mares over 1200m, at 15:25. Gimme’s Lassie (Smith) is the danger.
