Sovereign to rule at Fairview

Western Cape trainers Justin Snaith, Candice Bass-Robinson and Brett Crawford are all raiding Fairview on Friday for the running of the Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes over 1600m.
Snaith could have the strongest contender in Sovereign Secret who has won both of her preview visit to Fairview impressively.
Sovereign Secret started 2021 in fine style when slamming Sailing Ship by 3.50 lengths over this course and distance and returned last month to beat re-opposing rival Water Spirit by 1.50 lengths.
She was full of running in both wins and although it is the first-time jockey Craig Zackey will be aboard, she does not seem to be a difficult ride and from a good draw is the one to beat.
However, she could have a strong challenge from Alan Greeff-trained Santa Therese, an up-and-coming three-year-old who has won five of her seven starts and is unbeaten in both starts over the course and distance.
This is a tough race for the young filly and No 11 draw has not helped her chances. But in jockey Grant van Niekerk she has a rider who could pull it off.
Crawford sends out Heaven’s Embrace, and although this filly was not disgraced when fourth last time, that form is probably not good enough to beat these rivals.
Bass-Robinson, on the other hand, must fancy decent runs from both Springisintheair and Marmalisa who are both fit and should be course-and-distance suited.
