Snaith to crown another KZN victory on Greyville turf

The five-year-old gelding lines up in a Pinnacle Stakes over 1600m.  

The Australian-bred son of Camelot has not raced since finishing unplaced in the WSB Summer Cup over 2000m at Turffontein in November but he comes into this race as the best-weighted runner by at least 1.5kg.

Justin Snaith’s charge also has a good record on the Greyville turf track. He has raced there seven times for two wins and two places, his previous run at this course coming in October last year when he won the Listed Michaelmas Handicap over 1900m.

These days he probably prefers slightly further than 1600m but he has won twice over that trip and he is likely to be racing fresh.

What is worth noting is that jockey Richard Fourie has made the trip from Cape Town to ride the three Snaith runners at the meeting.

Crown Towers will jump from barrier No 5 and does look the standout bet on the card if he is anywhere close to peak fitness. 

Another visitor at this meeting is Mike de Kock, who sends out Fire Flower in Race 6, a MR 79 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1900m.

She is beautifully drawn in barrier No 1 and has Luke Ferraris, hot off another Grade 1 victory in Saturday’s WSB SA Classic on Malmoos, in the irons.
