Snaith enjoying a Trip To Camelot

The Justin Snaith stable reached an amazing milestone at Fairview on Friday when their career earnings surpassed the R400-million mark.

But there is still a lot more to come from the ebullient Snaith and his family, and life will continue as normal at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday when they send out a string of 10 runners on the eight-race card.

A few winners on the day would not come as a surprise but the best could be the perfectly named Trip To Camelot who lines up in Race 3, an Open Maiden over 1600m.

This three-year-old gelding is a half-brother to two well-performed stayers, former Grade 1 SA Derby winner Legend Of Arthur and last year’s Gold Cup winner King Pelles.

Being by Trippi, Trip To Camelot should have a bit more speed in his lineage and while his first three starts were not disastrous, they were rather mediocre. As a result, he was gelded and his first run back was promising, producing the fastest 400m to finish 2,25-length second behind Money Extractor.

He was well supported on that occasion and went off a 3-1 favourite. Trip To Camelot should come on from that run and could well have found the right field.

Jockey Tristan Godden has had the best season of his career and he will be riding six Snaith runners on the day.
