Trainer Gavin Smith continues to churn out the winners and the run can continue at Fairview on Friday when they race on the Polytrack.
Smith can get things going in the opening event, a Maiden Plate over 1900m, and as runners Red Centre and Joe Harman could both go off at fair prices, it could pay to be with them against the field.
Smith does not let his fillies take on the boys unless they can win so we have to respect the chances of Red Centre. This filly was very frustrating early in her career as she showed she could finish off a race when flying up from nowhere behind Champagne Charlies over 1200m on the turf, only to disappoint in her next couple of starts.
Recently tried over a bit of ground she is getting closer and closer to the winner. She will have every chance of running past them at the finish.
She gets a 3.5kg sex and age allowance, S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and she is well drawn at No 3.
Joe Harman has been a career loser, having had 29 runs without a win. But he has gone close numerous times and is right at home over this course and distance so he might finally have his day to shine.
Joe Harman has been finishing off his races nicely and although ending up 0.75 lengths behind Belle's First Wave last time it was more a case of Belle's First Wave getting the first run.
Smit could also close off the meeting where he sends out Spirit Of Silvano.
Spirit Of Silvano is bred in the purple but only managed to shed his maiden tag when he had his first run for Smith after moving from Cape Town. He turned his Fairview debut into a procession when he beat Joe Harman by 4.50 lengths over 2000m.
That run was on the turf but if the four-year-old gelding can bring that sort of form to the Polytrack he could be close to a banker in Race 8, a MR 77 Handicap over 1600m.
Khumalo rode him last time and is back in the irons and from No 5 draw he will have everything in his favour.
