Silver Hill can climb to the top at Hereford

Silver Hill can build on recent efforts to score for Jamie Snowden and Sam Twiston-Davies at Hereford on Wednesday.

The Shirocco six-year-old won a novice hurdle at Catterick in November and was beaten just a neck over the same course and distance next time out.

In early March the horse returned lined up at Newcastle for a slight step up in trip, where again he was narrowly second with the winner half a length ahead of him.

On both occasions the third-placed horse was 20-odd lengths back, however, so both runs were encouraging and bode well for him in the Spa Motors Hereford Novices' Hurdle.

Henry Daly's After Many Days looks long overdue a win and can add one to her record in the Enjoy Coneleys Fun Fair This March Mares' Novices' Handicap Hurdle on the same Hereford card.

The chestnut started the season with some creditable efforts, getting closer to the action than she ever has in prior seasons but not getting her head in front.

Two runs this year have brought about two second places, both solid efforts in which she was not beaten far and not overly punished by the handicapper as a result.

On the all-weather at Kempton there is an early opportunity for Ed Walker's Moonshine to get off the mark in the Virgin Bet/EBF Fillies' Restricted Novice Stakes.

The Starman filly acquitted herself well last season when placed in two maidens, and made a promising all-weather debut when beaten only a head in a Lingfield novice in late February.

She has a smart pedigree as she is out of a multiple Italian Group winner called City Glam and a wide draw was probably partially responsible for her defeat last time out.

In the Virgin Bet Daily Price Boosts Novice Stakes Richard Hannon's El Nay can come to the fore on his second start under rules.

A Palace Pier three-year-old out of a Frankel mare, the gelding took to the track for the first time in February to contest a 1600m Lingfield maiden on the all-weather.

There he was second by half a length to an Amo Racing-owned 200,000-guineas purchase called Sin City, with the rest of the field seven and a half lengths back or further still.

Sin City holds all the right entries and the run bodes well for El Nay's second start, this time dropping down to 1400m when lining up at Kempton. - Press Association
