Roccapina to rescue bettors in the Cape

It is rare to get a 10-race card for a midweek meeting but that is exactly what will be confronting punters at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Tuesday.

It is not what one may term an unplayable card and it looks a good day to be taking exotic bets, especially BiPots and Place Accumulators.

The other concern is that probably the best bet on the card only comes up in Race 10, a Class 4 Handicap over 1000m where speedy Roccapina will be expected to recoup losses.

She was an expensive failure at very short odds for her supporters last time, but she is still learning the game and being slowly away clearly cost her.

She will be coming back from an 87-day rest but at least she won’t have to deal with the Hollywoodbets Durbanville turn as she is back over the course and distance where she won her maiden.

Progeny of One World are stamping their authority on local racing and this filly looks likely to follow in their footsteps.

If this Candice Bass-Robinson-trained filly jumps on terms she should be very hard to beat. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride.

In Race 8, a Class 4 Handicap over 1200m, a decent run is expected from three-year-old O’Tenikwa.

The three-year-old Vercingetorix gelding has had just five starts, winning twice and placing twice.

He did disappoint last time out when only ninth, but it is easy to find excuses for that run.

O’Tenikwa was drawn badly and over-raced, but nevertheless finished only three lengths back - quite an achievement which puts that run into perspective.

That race was run around a tight turn and, although he has won there before, he has been much better up the straight.

Jockey Corne Offer knows how to get the best out of him and although there are many improving rivals, he should at least make the frame.
