ROBERTO CARO CAN DELIVER ON DEBUT FOR ADRIAN KEATLEY AT THIRSK

July 2024

By Anita Chambers

Roberto Caro can be forgiven a disappointing recent start as he makes his debut for Adrian Keatley at Thirsk.

Previously trained by Ollie Sangster and then Seb Spencer, the three-year-old looked reasonably progressive in three starts, winning one of two runs for his first handler before finishing second for his next trainer.

However, his upwards curve came to an abrupt end last time when he raced pretty keenly before dropping away to be beaten 10 lengths in fourth on his first handicap start.

Given a bit of a break and a new yard since that effort, Roberto Caro can put up an improved effort in the Nicky Warren’s 53rd Happy Birthday Handicap.

Orbital Chime should strip much fitter for his seasonal bow as he tackles the Download The Vickers.Bet App Handicap.

A nursery winner for James Horton back in 2022, he was limited to just a couple of starts last term and then returned from a 294-day break at Haydock at the start of the month.

Beaten just under six lengths in sixth as a 40-1 shot, Orbital Chime ran well enough against some race-fit rivals and can take advantage of a 2lb ease in the weights.

Genesius has placed on each of his three starts this term but can finally hit the mark in the Best Price Guaranteed Daily At Vickers.bet Handicap.

He is not easy to win with, having struck four times in 37 starts, with his last victory having come over a year ago from a 1lb lower mark.

However, Genesius generally puts his best foot forward for Sir Mark Prescott and should be able to do so again.

Twilight Ballet just missed out on his latest run but compensation awaits in the Best Odds Guaranteed dragonbet.co.uk EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes at Bath.

A £24,000 breeze-up buy in April, he has already run three times for Andrew Balding, finishing third at the first attempt before finding subsequent July Stakes second Billboard Star far too good when fifth next time.

Sent to Lingfield last time, Twilight Ballet fell short by just a neck and a repeat of that performance might be good enough.

Miss Gitana proved suited by the step up to a mile and six furlongs at Doncaster last month and sticking at a staying trip can pay dividends in the DragonBet – Born From The Betting Ring Handicap.

Having shown improved form at 12 furlongs, the staying trip on Town Moor saw her prevail by a short head after a battle, with a 2lb rise perhaps still within her remit.

Asinara is the pick in the DragonBet Proud Sponsors Of Ffos Las Racing Restricted Maiden Stakes at the Welsh venue.

With two second places on her CV already this term, Asinara has performed well enough and might not have to be too smart to triumph here.

Mission Command can make a quick return pay in the Otex EBF Maiden Stakes at Yarmouth.

After an underwhelming first track outing, Mission Command fared better when third, albeit well held, at Doncaster six days ago over six furlongs.

Dropping back to the minimum trip could help his cause.

Value Added has shown some promise over obstacles and can make it third time lucky in the first division of the Jal Roofing Mares’ Maiden Hurdle at Uttoxeter.
