Rivals can dance to Swayze's tune

June 2022

Swayze is fancied to go close in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap on Wednesday at Nottingham.

This will be the Showcasing colt's second run for William Muir and Chris Grassick - who have a big assignment on Friday at Epsom with Pyledriver.

The winner of one of his four outings for Martyn Meade, for whom he was tried in smart company at Goodwood, his debut for his new yard came at York's Dante meeting and while ultimately well beaten, there was encouragement to be taken.

He showed loads of dash in the front rank and was still in there pitching before his 273-day absence took its toll from the furlong pole (200m marker), although to his credit, he kept at it and was not beaten all that far.

Rather handily, he has been dropped 2lb for that and with that run under his belt, and down in grade, he has real claims on what will be only the sixth start of his career.

Russian Rumour has returned to the Flat in good shape and there is no reason she should not go well again in the Join RacingTV Now Handicap.

Jonathan Portman's charge has just found one too good over two miles (3200m) on her last two starts and might find coming back a couple of furlongs here to her advantage.

Although third over track and trip on debut recently, it would be no surprise to see Lisa Williamson's Sugar Hill Babe overlooked once again by the market in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes.

She made some eyecatching headway to make the podium alongside two Royal Ascot-bound fillies on that first start and is more than capable of getting a 'one' next to her name with slight improvement.

Monaadah is an interesting runner in the Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Novice Stakes at Kempton.

The Giant's Causeway three-year-old represents a Saeed bin Suroor yard that has some nice horses this year and merits special attention as he runs in the colours of the late Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum.

Bin Suroor's colt won as he liked at Meydan on debut and then rallied in really game fashion to win at Newcastle under a penalty.

There could be more success for Bin Suroor at Ripon where City Walk attempts to back up his recent Chelmsford success in the Weatherbys Personalised Gifts Handicap.

The Godolphin-owned gelding ran out a commanding two-length winner on the Polytack in Essex and could have plenty more to give here off a 6lb higher mark.

In another of the sprint handicaps on the card, Albegone can go one better than his second here last time to get on the scoresheet in the Ripon Races Ladies Day 16th June Handicap.

The gaps came at the wrong time for Tim Eaterby's four-year-old when a running-on silver medallist most recently, but is now given the chance to correct the record off the same rating.

Earlier on in the Affordable Ownership With Titanium Racing Handicap, Timbukone has the chance to build on his Ayr reappearance now stepped up to a mile (1600m).

Keith Dalgleish's gelding kept on well for second behind a well-treated rival on handicap debut and now has a fine opportunity to break his duck off the same mark of 69.

Iur Cinn Tra scored with a bit in hand when making all at Nottingham last month and the form of that race has an OK look to it with the runner-up also hitting the frame at Redcar next time out.

David O'Meara's charge has been gelded since his outing at Colwick Park and having signed off last season by scoring at Chelmsford, could land a long-awaited hat-trick if continuing his progression. - Press Association
