Rainbows Edge to be royal winner at Salisbury

August 2024

Rainbows Edge can complete a hat-trick to give The King and Queen victory in the British Stallion Studs EBF Upavon Fillies' Stakes at Salisbury on Wednesday.

The daughter of Night Of Thunder broke her maiden at the first time of asking in March on the all-weather at Newcastle when coming home 1.25-lengths clear of Star Jasmine over 1600m.

After a 97-day break, she returned on the turf at Newmarket and justified 11-8 favouritism to gallop home 2.75-lengths ahead of Inherit.

The step up to 2000m and a rise in grade to Listed company should cause no problems for the John and Thady Gosden-trained filly to maintain her perfect career record in the hands of Kieran Shoemark.

New Century can gain compensation for defeat in the Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot by getting his nose in front in the British Stallion Studs EBF Stonehenge Stakes.

The Kameko colt was a well-beaten fourth behind Al Qudra on his racecourse debut over 1200m at Lingfield but came on for the run when prevailing next time out, leading Consolidation home by 2.25-lengths over 1400m at Doncaster.

That earned him a step up in grade to Listed company and a rematch with Al Qudra, who he chased home valiantly in second, 2.25-lengths in arrears.

This step up to 1600m should suit the Andrew Balding-trained colt and he can secure a second trip to the winner's enclosure.

The booking of Ryan Moore is a significant boost for Shout on his return to Salisbury in the Michael Brunton Memorial British EBF Novice Stakes.

The Advertise colt came home fifth on his racecourse debut at Windsor but can be forgiven for that run, as he lost lengths at the start after being slowly out of the stalls and raced keenly throughout, so going down by only 2.75-lengths was a creditable effort.

He gave a much better account of himself when sent off the 13-8 favourite at the Wiltshire track last time out. Shout made all and came home a comfortable 1.5-length winner and can repeat the feat.

Gentle Warrior can make amends for his disappointing racecourse debut in the New 911 EBF Maiden Stakes at Beverley.

The Karl Burke inmate got upset and was flighty in the parade ring and subsequently came home last of the six runners in a race won by Lazy Griff at the East Yorkshire track.

However, he can come on for the experience and land another winner for in-form handler Burke.

Bella Love has been placed in all three starts and can finally get her nose in front in the All-Electric Macan EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes.

Second at Wetherby on debut, she followed that up when third at Thirsk and then second back at the North Yorkshire venue, so she certainly wouldn't be winning out of turn.

Imperial Trooper can better two placed efforts and open his account in the Prostate Cymru Swansea Building Society EBF Restricted Novice Stakes at Ffos Las.

The form of an initial third at Epsom was boosted when the runner-up scored next time out and Ed Walker's charge then caught a tartar in Parole d'Oro when second at the same venue. - Press Association
