Quanabi to boost Fourie’s tally at Greyville

Richard Fourie is riding like a man possessed at the moment and who can blame him, as there is a potential pot of gold containing R1-million waiting at the end of his rainbow.

His winning target is 334, the record currently held by Anthony Delpech, and Hollywoodbets said they would pay R1-million to any jockey who could beat that target this season.

Three-quarters of the way through the seventh month, Fourie has ridden 178 winners which is an average of a little under 26 winners a month. Should he keep up the current rate he should break the 300-win mark which is already an excellent total.

But he has recently upped his rate and with a number of meetings still to go this month, Fourie is already on 22 wins, and is in huge demand right now.

He has some decent mounts on the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday and could bag a few more winners.

He has picked up some nice rides for trainer Wendy Whitehead and the best could be Quanabi in Race 7, a MR 69 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1400m.

She has been consistent but in her last race, her second start for Fourie, she produced a solid performance, beating well-supported Rafeef’s Choice convincingly.
