Prince to reign at Leicester

June 2025

Commanding Prince can continue his rich vein of form with success in Race 6, the Voluntary Action Leicestershire (VAL) Celebrating 60 Years Handicap at Leicester on Tuesday.

The four-year-old did not make it to the track until February this year, having changed hands for 25,000 guineas at the end of 2024, which seems pretty reasonable considering he is a half-brother to a Derby winner in Masar.

While he did not run for breeder Godolphin, he has won twice and placed on the other three occasions in his five starts so far, proving equally as capable at 1400m and 1600m.

After his two novice wins, Commanding Prince was given a starting mark of 82 and although he has twice been a beaten favourite, his unchanged perch makes plenty of appeal as he returns to a slightly shorter trip.

Silent Storm is the pick in Race 5, the Dale Hall & Hickman Associates EBF Maiden Stakes.

A E90,000 purchase as a yearling, he did not make it to the track at two, but his initial three-year-old start offered plenty of encouragement for a future victory.

Sent off a 22-1 shot at Newbury, he was beaten under four lengths in fourth behind Montpellier after having to weave around a bit to find a run.

He rallied and stayed on well at the finish over 1400m, which makes this step up to 1600m a logical move from Charlie Hills.

Glamorous Breeze made a winning seasonal bow and can kick on again in Race 4 at Lingfield, the Highbet Traders Treble Odds Boost Handicap.

Arriving off a 236-day break, Christopher Mason's charge triumphed by 0.75-lengths at Chepstow - the first time the mare had managed to score on her initial run out.

Mason anticipated further improvement for the start, so Glamorous Breeze is taken to defy a 4lb rise, having triumphed off 85 in the past.

Shaatir posted a decent effort on debut and the experience will stand him in good stead in Race 3, the Highbet Acca Odds Boost/EBF Novice Stakes.

A son of Havana Grey, he looked pretty sharp at the first attempt, coming home third behind a runner with previous experience despite racing from a draw that was probably wider than ideal.

Shaatir would not have to find too much extra to get off the mark for Archie Watson here.

Collusion can make it four on the bounce in Race 2 at Wolverhampton, the Get The Inside Track With raceday-ready.com Handicap, with his narrow margins of victory limiting the handicapper's impact.

He looked good value for a neck at Kempton in March and an extra 3lb might not be a sufficient anchor. - Press Association
