Piroshska looks ready to run

The R600,000 Ready To Run Stakes (Non-Black Type) heads the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth card on Sunday and this could well be a battle between trainers Candice Bass-Robinson and Justin Snaith.

Bass-Robinson has her yard in the pink of condition as she demonstrated last week when she trained five legs of the Pick 6 at Kenilworth.

She sends out Piroshka who is the best weighted runner in this field of three-year-olds. As is so often the case with these sort of races, it is not the strongest of fields and this son of Quasillo looks to have lots of room for improvement.

He lost ground at the start at Durbanville last time when trying 1400m for the first time but ran on well enough to finish a 1.40-length fourth behind Silvano’s Dasher.

The obvious danger is the next best weighted runner, Royal Aussie from the Snaith yard.

He will be reunited with Richard Fourie who partnered him to second-place finishes in the Royal Mo colt's first two outings.

Jockeys Grant van Niekerk and Louis Mxothwa were in the irons when Royal Aussie recorded back-to-back wins over the course and distance of this contest, but Fourie will be back aboard on this occasion, in the hope he can preserve the three-year-old's 100% track-and-trip record.

Others to consider are Tothemoonandback and Street Outlaw.
