Peter to strike gold at Greyville

March 2024

Jack Milner

Tony Peter takes a sojourn to Durban on Sunday where he has three runners carded to race on the turf track at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

There is no doubt that all three have excellent winning chances but although the stable is in top form, pulling off a treble is not easy.

They begin their day in Race 2 where Peter runs Golden Chandelier in a Juvenile Plate for fillies over 1000m, and this could be his best runner on the day.

There are only two winners in the line-up, Golden Chandelier and She’s A Machine, and they have to give the other runners 3kg. Nevertheless, unless there is a talented filly among one of the three unraced fillies, these two should fight it out.

She’s A Machine, a daughter of New Predator, was well supported on debut and duly obliged so she clearly shows a lot at home.

The Stuart Ferrie-trained runner also has the benefit of having won on the turf track at this course. She might very well live up to her name but based on form, she will have to go some to beat Golden Chandelier.

While it did take the daughter of William Longsword four runs to win her maiden two of her runs were against highly talented Almond Sea, who is unbeaten in three starts and has won them by a total of 18.75 lengths.

Her last win was in a Listed race at Turffontein on Classic Day.

Golden Chandelier finished a 6.25-length third the last time they met and followed that up with a 1.50-length victory in her next start.

Peter’s other runners are Trippis Tune in Race 4 and Agamemnon in Race 5.

Calvin Habib will be aboard all three runners.
