Leonardo Bonacci, more famously just known as Fibonacci, was an Italian mathematician, considered to be the most talented Western mathematician of the Middle Ages.
Fibonacci popularised the Indo–Arabic numeral system in the western world and introduced Europe to what became known as the sequence of Fibonacci numbers.
To simplify it, it is a sequence in which each number is the sum of the two preceding ones.
Vaughan Marshall now has a son of William Longsword named for the Italian mathematician and he will line up in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1400m on the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday.
Although a juvenile racing in open company, Fibonacci looks a ready-made banker on what is an extremely challenging card.
While the colt will be having his first race on the Polytrack, he has run well on the turf track, finishing a 1.25-length third behind Ultimate Jewel, after leading for much of the journey. He was reported to have shifted in both directions from the crop and that might be why he has been fitted with blinkers this time.

There is another statistic in his favour. He runs in Race 3 and is horse No 5, and both numbers form part of the Fibonacci sequence.
The rest of the meeting looks really tough but perhaps Duncan Howells could give punters a bit of lift in Race 5, a MR 67 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1400m, where he sends out Mission Rocks.
Mission Rocks ran a shocker after winning her maiden in good style. But she later showed she wasn’t herself in that race as she bolted up in a very fast time when back over 1400m.
Howells has his yard in good form and Mission Rocks could follow up.
