Not Staying Long can collect again at Catterick

Not Staying Long can complete a course and distance hat-trick at Catterick in the Easby Abbey Novices' Limited Handicap Chase on Tuesday.

A switch to fences and a return to Patrick Neville's yard appears to have reinvigorated the seven-year-old this winter, with a 20-length success here in mid-December followed by a cosy win 11 days later.

The handicapper has slapped the Soldier Of Fortune mare with a 15lb rise for her most recent victory, putting her on an elevated perch of 125, but she clearly likes this track and is difficult to oppose.

One More Stroke is the pick in the Visit racingtv.com Handicap Chase.

Donald McCain's charge won over hurdles at Catterick last year and returns on the back of a career-best performance over fences at Musselburgh earlier in the month.

Stepped up to just shy of 4800m for the first time since his point-to-point days, the six-year-old finished with a flourish to deny hot favourite Boomslang and further improvement could be forthcoming over these longer trips.

It is not too difficult to make a strong case for Jumper Madrik in the Brian Brookes 'Still Got It!' Handicap Chase at Leicester.

In truth the JP McManus-owned six-year-old showed precious little in three starts over hurdles, but that allowed him to face the larger obstacles from a lowly mark of 79 and he has taken full advantage, with a December victory at this track supplemented by a clear-cut success at Wetherby.

A 7lb rise does not look insurmountable for a horse with scope for plenty more progress yet.

Star Of Jupiter is highly unlikely to be anything like the price of his last run - or the one before that for that matter - as he has a leading chance in division one of the Gamble Responsibly At BetUK Handicap at Wolverhampton.

Two runs towards the end of last year at big odds had not offered much encouragement and neither did his return for 2025, when seventh of eight here in January as a 200-1 shot.

But it was a different story dropped in class and fitted with blinkers over this course and distance earlier this month, swooping off a strong pace to win readily at the relatively meagre odds of 50-1.

Billy Loughnane rides the four-year-old for the first time for his father, Mark, and the combination should be hard to beat from stall one.

Punters are advised to side with the Charlie Hills-trained Havana Joy in the Boost Your Acca At BetMGM Fillies' Restricted Novice Stakes.

A half-sister to a couple of winners, her sole start to date was at Kempton in January, in what was not a bad event. Far too keen for her own good, she took an age to really settle and it is to her credit she kept going as well as she did in third.

Normal improvement from that experience should be just the ticket for a first victory.

Next Trick might be one to look at in the Win £1M With BetMGM's Golden Goals Fillies' Handicap.

Formerly with Dermot Weld, she ran with promise first time out for Archie Watson before disappointing back at Kempton a week later, where it is possible something could have been amiss, as she dropped right away having led to the 400m pole.

If that first run for her stable is more representative of her talent, then her mark of 66 puts her in the mix.

Market support for Night Arc in the Best Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Handicap could prove significant.

The six-year-old has found himself on a career-low mark after a string of disappointing efforts.

But while he is without a win since July 2023, his luck might be about to change judged on an eyecatching appearance at Kempton last month, where he ran on encouragingly from the rear and would have been closer but for wanting to hang. - Press Association
