Racing returns to the Polytrack at Fairview on Friday, and the value for day may rest with five-year-old mare Bosnay.
The daughter of Potala Palace lines up in Race 7, a Middle Stakes over 1600m, and has a ot going for her.
A record of just four wins in 34 starts does not suggest she is anything special, but it is worth noting that three of those wins were on this surface. It is also worth noting that Bosnay has won over this course and distance, and also twice over this distance.
She comes into this race as the best weighted runner and with no obvious front-runners in the race besides her, jockey Muzi Yeni can make full use of being placed in pole position draw and try to make all the running.
Yeni is a great judge of pace and if can get away from the opposition and sit with a soft lead, she could prove hard to catch.
She is trained by Zietsman Oosthuizen who has his stable in top form currently.
Yeni has a number of really good rides and he can be on the mark again in Race 3. Once again he will team up with Zietsman and with Desert Cloud who lines up in this Maiden Plate over 1200m.
The Gimmethegreenlight filly makes her local debut and will be trying the Polytrack for the first time.
Desert Cloud was runner-up twice and placed third a couple of times in her six starts in Gauteng, and she does appear better than her rivals.
The same could generally be said about Brigham in Race 1, a Maiden Plate over 1900m.
This Buffalo Bill Cody gelding also makes his local debut and tries the Polytrack for the first time. He has been runner-up twice and on the pick of his form, should beat these rivals.
