Musiala might be representing the German national team, but a tug of war ensued before the youngster made his choice to represent “Die Mannschaft” instead of the “Three Lions” of England, a country he represented at junior levels while residing in the West side of London, playing under Chelsea’s development structures.
Ahead of Bayern Munich’s clash with Manchester United, Musiala makes a return to English shores in what turns out to be a MUST-WIN game for Man United in the last matchday of group A in the UEFA Champions League.
The game takes place at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, a stadium Musiala has airbrushed as “Every child’s dream to play in” during his recent press conference. Having grown up in the ranks of English football, it comes as no surprise that Musiala would be looking forward to playing in the theatre of dreams.
But in recent times, it hasn’t been a theatre of dreams for anyone associated with Manchester United with recent results signalling continuous turmoil for the club. This past weekend, United were dealt a heavy defeat by a steady climbing Bournemouth side, that put a 5-star performance in front of a packed crowd in Manchester.
In United’s recent UCL clashes, they’ve failed to get a win in their last 2 games, drawing with Galatasaray and losing to FC Copenhagen. With only 5 points amassed in 5 games, they need a win to give them a chance to qualify for the knockout phases, if only Galatasaray and Copenhagen can play to a draw. On Tuesday night.
Eric Ten Hag will be weary of Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munch side, despite Bayern having gone 5-1 down over the weekend against a Frankfurt side that hasn’t had it all too easy this season as they currently sit 7th in the Bundesliga.
Returning to England with Jamal Musiala, is the club’s top goalscorer this season, Harry Kane. Kane left Tottenham Spurs at the end of last season to join Bayern Munich, amid interest from Manchester United.
