The decision to move Sunday’s meeting from Hollywoodbets Scottsville to the Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville as the result of heavy rain in Pietermaritzburg, could work in the favour of trainer Michael Roberts who sends out Asaruludu in Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1200m.
This smart-looking son of imposing stallion William Longsword out of a Jet Master mare, has also been ranging up to the eventual winners but not going past them. Both of those runs were on the Polytrack so it may pay to follow him now that he will not be trying turf for the first time.
This could also be a race to catch the Trifecta and Quartet multiple times. Harley Street hasn’t been decisive at the business end of his races, but he nonetheless has been right in the firing line and could contend for honours.
Rachel Venniker has ridden him in both of his starts and she is back on board again.
There have been three scratchings in the race, including Harley Street Who looked the main danger.
That leaves Oshakati and Lucky Dollar as the key threats to Asaruludu, and while perhaps not blessed with the same cruising speed, do have the form to hold off the others for prizes. A Trifecta looks the way to go so banker Asaruludu to win with the other two boxed for second and third.
