More of the Same

April 2025

Henk Steenkamp

The stables of trainers Alan Greeff and Gavin Smith had a great day on Friday and it could be more of the same on Tuesday.

Greeff saddled four winners on Friday and Smith won three races. That meeting was on the turf but the two big yards should continue that good form on the Polytrack on Tuesday.

It is the Justin Snaith stable though that should start the meeting on a winning note. Blown Away looks the right one in the opener.

He is a banker in the first leg of the Bipot at 12:25. Richard Fourie is in the saddle.

The first leg of the Place Accumulator, race two at 13:00, looks more competitive.

Winter Emeralds makes his debut for the Greeff stable in race three, the first leg of the Pick Six, at 13:35.

He is drawn wide but looks a huge runner with Fourie up in this Open Maiden over 1200m.

Greeff and Fourie combine with another big runner, Articuno, in the fourth race. This is the start of Jackpot One at 14:10.

Jackpot Two starts with a competitive looking race five at 14:45.

The filly Greenlight Legend will be looking for her third win in a row when she takes on the boys in a Classified Stakes over 1600m.

She joined the Greeff stable this year and started with two wins on the turf.

If she takes to the poly she could well make it a hat trick of wins, but there are some hard knockers in the race to keep an eye on.

Then we get to the Tractor Race, race seven over 1900m. This was the race that was abandoned on March 28 when the runners had to be pulled up when the tractor couldn’t remove the starting stalls.

The meeting ends with race eight at 16:35 and the filly Haphazard is another Greeff runner who looks hard to oppose. She does have a wide draw to overcome.

There are some solid favourites from the Greeff yard to build your bets around but it should be competitive poly racing on Tuesday – as always, let’s give it a go!
