Master Vintner can win the day at Doncaster

November 2025

Master Vintner can make it back-to-back victories in the Virgin Bet November Handicap for trainer Ralph Beckett oln Saturday at Doncaster.

The Kimpton handler won it last year with Lord Melbourne, who defends his Doncaster title, but preference is for his lightly-raced stablemate who has won each of his two starts this term.

Having finished third to St Leger winner Scandinavia on his racecourse debut in May, it was little surprise he was well supported on his first start for Beckett in September, when he landed a heavy ground 2000m novice with little fuss.

He stepped up to 2400m on the all-weather for another authoritative success, earning him a starting mark of 92 which could still underestimate his ability.

Duran looks to have plenty in his favour as he tackles 1200m in the Virgin Bet Daily Price Boosts Handicap.

He was putting in all his best work at the finish on Town Moor last time out but fell just a neck short over the minimum trip, which makes this longer test look ideal on the ground.

Anna Swan is the pick in the Virgin Bet A Good Bet Irish EBF Gillies Fillies' Stakes after falling just short in Listed company at Yarmouth last time out.

Having her first start in 82 days, Anna Swan attempted to make all but Group One-placed Running Lion was just too strong, with a 12lb leap in her official rating reflecting the value of that effort.

Anna Swan should be completing a double for William Haggas with his Montassib the standout in the Virgin Bet Supports Safe Gambling Wentworth Stakes.

Winner of the Group One Sprint Cup last year, his season has been stymied by a spring setback which has limited him to just two starts.

The Grand National fences are in action at Aintree, with Gaboriot taken to improve on last year's third place in the William Hill Grand Sefton Handicap Chase.

He was beaten 4.25-lengths by the reopposing King Turgeon 12 months ago but his campaign petered out after that and he is actually rated 3lb lower this time around.

Rubaud takes a familiar route as he shoots for a hat-trick in the BetMGM Elite Hurdle at Wincanton.

Having won his Kempton warm-up for the third time, it will be a huge surprise if Paul Nicholls' runner cannot complete the double again as he is rated upwards of 20lb superior and has conditions to suit.

Nicholls invariably does well at this meeting and Blueking d'Oroux can land another Boodles Rising Stars Novices' Chase for the former champion, while Jubilee Alpha can defy top-weight to secure the BetMGM Paul & Richard Barber Memorial Mares' Handicap Hurdle.

It might not all go the way of the Ditcheat team though, with five-times chase scorer Art Of Diplomacy taken to prevail in the Badger Beers Handicap Chase.

He would be a six-times winner for Mickey Bowen had he not fallen at the final fence when looking all over the winner at Chepstow. - Press Association
