Jack Milner: Justin Snaith and Anton Marcus can team up to give punters a banker on Sunday’s card at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.
Snaith had four winners at Kenilworth on Saturday and the good form can continue in Race 7 at Scottsville where he sends out Native Tongue in this Graduation Plate over 1750m.
Unlike many of Snaith’s KwaZulu-Natal-based runners who started their careers in Cape Town, this three-year-old son of Master Of My Fate has only raced at Greyville. He won on the Polytrack over 1200m on debut and then continued at the course. But as three of his next four starts were on the turf track, he does show versatility on both surfaces.
Two runs back he produced the fastest 400m to finish in a Novice Plate over 1600m on the turf but still went down 0.90 lengths to Share Holder.
Paul Lafferty’s runner takes his place in this race and is the best handicapped runner by 5.5kg with Native Tongue next best.
But this race produces one of those unusual anomalies where form and ratings do not match up because Native Tongue is 3.5kg better off for that 0.90-length defeat.
The only concern is that this will be his first run at Scottsville, but he has Marcus aboard for the first time and he does have the advantage of jumping from No 1 draw. He also looks suited to both the longer trip and home straight.
